The Challenge

The Great Room (TGR) already had a nice-looking, functional website when they approached NSJ, but there were a couple of challenges. First, the website was not responsive (i.e. mobile friendly) which meant that viewers could have difficulty viewing images and text on smaller screens. As TGR is in the fashion industry and needed a website that could display the works of its designer clients, it was important that everyone have a good viewing experience regardless of screen size. The second challenge was their website lacked a content management system which would allow them to easily make updates to the site on their own.  TGR needed to make frequent updates to the site in order to display the latest images from its clients, so this problem needed to be addressed as well.

The Solution

When faced with the dilemma of either upgrading their current site to make it responsive or, conversely, starting  from scratch with a brand-new site, TGR opted for the latter. The first step we took was to build a custom HTML/Javascript site using the responsive Bootstrap framework so the display would be optimized for all types of screens and devices. Once our fashion industry client approved of the new design, we tackled the second challenge by converting their new site into a custom WordPress theme. WordPress is a popular content management system that provides the user with a back-end editor for making changes to pages, blog posts, etc. After the WordPress version was completed, the client was able to to update the site whenever changes were required.
